Create and change database tables in the browser, without writing SQL

Design the columns on screen, then read the DDL we generate before it runs, so you know exactly what will happen to the table.

What it does, who uses it, when

  • See the SQL before you confirm

Every change shows the statements that will run, with warnings such as a missing primary key or a column being dropped. Nothing runs until you confirm.

  • Enough for everyday changes

Create tables; add, rename and drop columns; change type, default and null; set foreign keys and create new indexes.

  • Only the right people change structure

Only Owners and Admins can use the Table Designer, read-only connections are blocked, and every run is recorded in the audit log.

How it works

Open a table or start one

Open an existing table from the Data Explorer, or start a new table in the schema you want.

Edit the columns

Add column rows, choose data types, and set defaults, nulls, foreign keys and indexes.

Check the SQL, then run

Read the generated statements, copy them if you like, and run when ready.

A real task

Join PostgreSQL and MySQL tables without moving dataPlain SQL cannot join a PostgreSQL table with a MySQL table. Compare CSV exports, postgres_fdw and Join Canvas, with the steps to do it.Read how →

Works well with

  • Data Explorer

Open a table, filter, sort and edit it like a spreadsheet, export to CSV, and keep the before and after of every edit in the audit log.

  • Database connections

Connect PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite and MongoDB over TLS or an SSH tunnel, mark them read-only, and let the team use them without knowing the password.

Frequently asked questions

Which databases are supported?

PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle and SQLite (MongoDB has no fixed structure, so it has no Table Designer). On PostgreSQL all statements run in one transaction, so a failure changes nothing. MySQL and Oracle run them one by one, and the SQL review says so.

Can I change the primary key of an existing table?

Not yet. You set the primary key when you create the table. For existing tables, changing the primary key or auto-increment, and editing or dropping existing indexes, still needs SQL.

What if I drop the wrong column?

You are asked to confirm every drop, and dropping a column really deletes its data, so take a backup first. Statements that ran are listed in the audit log.
