Connect databases
Supported databases, SSL / SSH tunnels, read-only, SQLite and MongoDB
Supported databases
PostgreSQL and MySQL / MariaDB come with every plan. SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite and MongoDB need the Dev plan or higher.
- Paste a connection URL (postgres://… or mongodb+srv://…) and the fields are filled in for you
- SSL: Require, Verify CA, Verify full or Disable; upload a CA and client certificate, with a warning before they expire
- SSH tunnel: host, user and a password or private key; the host key is remembered on first use and you are warned if it changes
- Passwords and keys are kept in Vault and never shown again after saving
Read-only
With "Read-only" ticked, Data Explorer, the SQL Editor and Table Designer never change that database, and it cannot be a pipeline target. Use a database login that can only read, too.
SQLite
Upload a .sqlite / .db file up to 100 MB; Ruamhub keeps a copy. Changes made in Ruamhub are saved to that copy (not the file on your computer); download the latest file from the connection page.
Uploading a new file replaces every change. If two people save at the same time, the later one is asked to reload instead of overwriting.
MongoDB
Columns come from the first 500 documents of each collection; embedded documents become a.b columns and arrays are shown as JSON.
Unless the connection is read-only, documents can be edited, added and deleted one at a time (no transaction across documents). Views are read-only. The MongoDB login needs readWrite.
Firewalls and IP addresses
If the database is behind a firewall, allow the outbound addresses of Ruamhub shown when you add a connection, or use an SSH tunnel through a machine that can reach it.
