Report templates

Design report pages with tables and sub-reports, send them as PDF, Excel, Word

Design a template

Open Report Templates and start from a sample layout (every plan: sales report, invoice, A5 receipt, landscape list · Dev / Pro: 12 more such as quotation, tax invoice, payslip and AR aging) or a blank page. Set the paper size, orientation and margins, then declare the fields you need (name, label and type: text, number, date, yes/no) on the Fields tab.

The page is split into bands: report header (once), page header and page footer (every page), group header and group footer (when grouped by a field), detail (every row) and summary. Drag elements into a band, move and resize them, and press "Preview PDF" any time.

Elements

  • Text: put {{field}} in it to insert a value
  • Field: number formats (#,##0.00) and date formats (d MMMM yyyy), with Buddhist years and Thai month names
  • Sum / count / average / min / max: in a group footer for the group, in the summary for the whole report
  • Image, line, box, print date and page number ({page} / {pages})
  • Table: columns from fields or text, with width, alignment, format and a total row, heading and alternate-row colours. Lists every row of the band it is in (in a group header/footer, the group’s rows), grows with them, repeats its heading on every page, and pushes down whatever is below it
  • Sub-report: shows another template in full with the rows of the band it is in. Map its fields to this template’s fields (unmapped = same name); 2 levels deep, and it cannot show itself

Fonts and images

Sarabun and Noto Sans Thai are built in. Upload your own fonts (.ttf, .otf, .woff, .woff2) and images (.png, .jpg, .gif, .webp) on the Images / fonts tab; they are shared across the workspace.

Use it in a pipeline

On the Join Canvas, drag a Template (under Report) between your data and the Output, choose the template and a column for each field (none = the column with the same name). The preview lists missing fields (they stop the run unless you allow empty ones) and type mismatches.

Choose a field under "Split by" to get one file per value, for example per invoice number; use {group} in the file name for that value.

Try it on the sample data: start from the "Sales report" layout and put a Template after orders joined with branches and customers

Formats and delivery

  • PDF: made with Chromium, so Thai text prints correctly
  • Excel from the template: report header at the top, numbers as real numbers, totals as formulas, the heading row repeats when printed
  • Word: paper size, margins, header and footer, page numbers and tables
  • Email: attach the files, and optionally show the report in the email body as an image. With split files, choose the field holding the email address to send each file to its owner (fixed recipients get a copy of every one); otherwise the files go as one ZIP
  • Other destinations: kept in Ruamhub, SFTP, S3 and shared folders, like any report
